Novack’s has been holding Saturday morning walks for 5 years and we invite you to join our walks. Start your Saturday morning with a walk of approximately one hour to get you warmed up for your own personal program. We walk along sidewalks and the multi-use paths along the Thames River near the Downtown area.

Our pace is at a moderate rate, allowing conversation and viewing a few of the sights, but long enough to get you warmed up for the day. Walking, as a healthy active lifestyle choice, has become a major part of one’s exercise regimen.

Long neglected and subject to stigmatization, this walk will explore how neighbourhood engagement can lead to positive change and urban renewal.

Long neglected and subject to stigmatization, this walk will explore how neighbourhood engagement can lead to positive change and urban renewal.

East of Adelaide (EOA), long thought of as the natural home of the street-level sex and drug trade, and in decline for much of the past generation is now witnessing a remarkable renaissance. This walk will chronicle the natural ebb and flow of inner-city vitality, the role of local politics in both neighbourhood decline and revitalization, and how urban revitalization can only occur with the mobilization of local residents to provide an authentic and place-centred vision for the future.

We will explore voth the residential neighbourhood and its commercial corridor, examine the relationship of each to the other, see the importance of heritage preservation as a tool of social and economic change, and discuss the potential challenges to long-term residents of urban gentrification.

Wortley Village Swift Chimneys

Learn about the diverse array of local chimneys. Find out which features make certain chimneys suitable as nesting habitat for the Chimney Swift, a species-at-risk in Canada. Chimneys, especially older ones, come in a fascinating array of shapes, sizes and designs. These often-overlooked architectural features intersect with an equally fascinating but rarely noticed little bird. The sooty-grey Chimney Swift flies high over cities and towns hunting insects. In 2009, the species was designated as Threatened both provincially (Ontario) and federally (Canada). Swifts nest inside old brick chimneys of buildings constructed in the 1960s or earlier.
**Free parking available behind the library off Bruce St, or along neighbouring streets

London Photo Walks – Forest & Trails Bresica University

In participation with Jane’s Walk London we have decided to schedule another May London Photo Walk taking place on May 2nd. Join us at Bresica University College for about a 2 hour walk through the forest and trails. We encourage you to bring your camera to take pictures of the buildings, people and nature along this beautiful walk. This walk will take us through the forest and on trails that aren’t paved so we suggest that proper footwear be worn.

Although we realize that this walk is happening not too long after our last photowalk and very close to our joint Photo Walk with PodCamp London we thought it was important to celebrate the City of London on May 2nd with the many other walkers that will be out that day.

You can view Western’s Parking Services for parking availability.
